Oxycodone and paracetamol are the two main active components of the prescription drug Percocet. Acetaminophen is a non-opioid pain reliever and fever reducer, whereas oxycodone is an opioid pain reliever.
Usually, Percocet is recommended to treat moderate to severe pain that non-opioid painkillers cannot adequately manage on their own. It reduces the experience of pain by attaching to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord. Oxycodone's capacity for pain relief is enhanced by paracetamol.
