To perform the test, the sample is placed at an angle of 20° inside the chamber. The temperature inside the chamber will remain around 37°C and fog with 5% of NaCl solution is atomised to spread inside the chamber. The test duration is predefined. The salt spray machine is equipped with reservoirs for water and saline solution for non-stop operation. The approximate capacity of the reservoir is 60 litres. salt spray test is one popular test which is performed to assess the surface coating of the product. In this test, the specimen is exposed to the saline fog at the temperature of approx. 37°C. This is an accelerated test and helps in assessing the behaviour of the product in some hours. The test is usually performed for 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours or so on… or depending upon the internal standards.
