The World Cup is a quadrennial international football tournament held every four years between the continents of Europe and Africa, as well as North and Central America andOceania. It is contested by men’s national teams representing just about one hundred and forty-seven (147) countries, with each team playing once against every other team for 32 matches over 30 days – almost consecutively – in a knockout format until there's only one team left standing at the end of the tournament.
