Lessan and Buckley strongly advise against type 1 diabetic patients using camel milk as an insulin substitute, despite the fact that numerous studies have found that it helps patients with the disease control their blood sugar levels and requires less insulin. Research on camel milk is biased in favor of favorable findings from studies of varying quality, which has given rise to false assertions. This was made clear when the FDA included camel milk among the goods and treatments for autism for which there was no supporting data.
